Updated: Mar 23, 2023

The CTF Loader error is an error message that can appear on a Windows computer when the CTF Loader process encounters an issue. CTF stands for "Collaborative Translation Framework" and the CTF Loader is a Windows process that handles the language bar and handwriting recognition feature in Windows.

The error message may read "CTF Loader has stopped working" or "CTF Loader has encountered a problem and needs to close". This error can be caused by various issues such as outdated or corrupted drivers, malware infections, or problems with the language bar or handwriting recognition feature.

There can be several reasons why the CTF Loader has stopped working on Windows 10. Some of the common reasons are:

  1. Outdated or corrupted drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause the CTF Loader to stop working properly. This can happen when the drivers that are required to run the CTF Loader are missing, outdated, or incompatible.

  2. Manage CTF from the Task Scheduler

  3. Disable the ctfmon.exe file from starting up

Let us talk about them in detail.

The “Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel” is one of the biggest culprits for causing the CTF Loader error. Therefore, to fix it, we need to disable this service.

STEP 3: Right-click on it, and pick Properties from the context menu. STEP 4: Make sure that the Startup type is set to Disabled. If it’s not, change it by opening the drop-down menu and selecting it.

STEP 5: Click OK. Restart your PC to apply the changes.

Method 2: Manage CTF using Task Scheduler

Disabling MSCTFMonitor can fix the CTF Loader error for you. To disable MSCTFMonitor follow the below steps:

STEP 1: Open Task Scheduler from the Start menu.

STEP 2: Expand Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft.

STEP 3: Here, click TextServicesFramework,

STEP 4: Now, select MsCtfMonitor, and click Disable.

STEP 5: Close the window and restart the PC to save the changes.

3] Disable the ctfmon.exe file from starting up

In case you wish to never have this process run, try using the regsvr32 tool. The Regsvr32 tool is a command-line utility that can be used for registering and un-registering OLE controls as DLL and ActiveX (OCX) controls in the Windows operating system.

STEP 1: Press Win+R to open the Run window.

STEP 2: Type the following commands one by one to unregister the DLL files, and press Enter after each of them:

regsvr32.exe /u msimtf.dll
regsvr32.exe /u msctf.dll

STEP 3: Restart the system once the commands have executed and the ctfmon.exe process would have been disabled.

That's It!
