Here are the top 10 highlights from our development team during the last quarter of 2019.
1. Flutter Workshop with Bicol IT
We sponsored an 8-hour Flutter Workshop with Bicol IT last December 7, 2019 at Ctrl Alt Work coworking space. There were 11 participants during the workshop. Most of the participants were from the academe. While the rest were IT professionals and students. The trainer was our very own Lead Mobile Developer, Harvey Javier. Harvey was also chosen as top 9 finalist during the recent Flutter Hackathon by Flutter Philippines.
2. Native Binance Coin (BNB) Support
Our last major update this year for our SparkPoint cryptocurrency wallet. Launched right before typhoon Kammuri hit our city! As big fans of Binance, we’re very proud of this update. BNB is a top 10 cryptocurrency used in Binance’s exchange platforms. We’re very happy to have met Binance’s founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao a few months ago in Taiwan during the Asia Blockchain Summit. A very down to earth and approachable guy despite the meteoric success.
3. Flutter Philippines Hackathon Top 9 Finalist
Our Lead Mobile Developer, Harvey reached the top 9 of the recent Flutter Philippines Hackhaton. He submitted a community management mobile app for Bicol IT. There were a total of 30+ entries and 85+ participants from all over the country.
4. Startup Weeked Bicol 2019 Mentor
I served as mentor for the second time during the Techstars Startup Weekend Bicol. This was a 3-day event held last November 15–17, 2019 at Ctrl Alt Work coworking space in Legazpi City. I mentored on product prototyping, development, and deployment.
5. Cryptocurrency & Blockchain: Practical Applications That Go Beyond the Hype
I was invited to give another talk on Blockchain during the 1st Bicol Business Conference. The BBC is 1-day event held last November 15, 2019 at The Tent, Avenue Plaza Hotel in Naga City. Local businessmen, businesswomen, professionals, government leaders, academics, and students attended the event.
6. 9th Philippine SME Business Expo and Conference
Our dev team joined the DLX marketing and operations team to showcase our products during the The 9th Philippine SME Business Expo. This was a 2-day event held last November 12–13 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila. There were hundreds of attendees and we were able to close several partnerships with local merchants.
7. Meeting with UnionBank Representative
We’ve met with Enrico, one of UnionBank’s relationship managers and Fintech connectors. We discussed a possible partnership and integration with their digital financial services API. UnionBank is the country’s leading tech-enabled bank. They deployed the first Bitcoin ATM in the Philippines.
8. ConsenSys #BUIDL Network Ambassador
I’m honored to be part of the ConsenSys #BUIDL network of ambassadors. BUIDL network ambassadors promote Blockchain education and grow communities around the technology. We have a 3rd Blockchain Meetup scheduled on Feb 15 at our local coworking space!
9. Built-In Decentralized Exchange Powered by Changelly
We’ve integrated Changelly in our wallet to provide our users with a secure decentralized exchange service. Users can trade 100+ coins and tokens in our platform. This is another step towards our push to integrate a crypto to fiat exchange next year.
10. 13th Place in Decentraland Game Jam
SparkPoint affiliate CryptoSolitaire won 13th place in Decentraland’s 2-week Game Jam. The team submitted a unique 3D solitaire game playable on Decentraland. There were more than 100 impressive entries from all over the world.
