Create a K2 Workflow in SharePoint 2013 Online

K2 is a SharePoint App to integrate a K2 environment with a SharePoint 2013 Environment. This allows the users to easily build, deploy and run customized business applications without writing code. To learn more about K2 and to set up K2 in SharePoint 2013 Online please go through this link.

In this article you will see how to create a simple K2 Workflow from SharePoint 2013 Online list. I have created a custom list named “K2 Workflow Tutorials”. You will see how to create a simple K2 workflow from this custom list. Note: I have already added the K2 to SharePoint App.

K2 Workflow Tutorials list


Use the following to create a K2 Workflow:

Navigate to the Office 365 site.

Click on K2 Workflow Tutorials link in the quick launch bar. Click on the List tab and then click on the Application button in the ribbon interface.


Click on Create New Application.


Select the Create Workflow check box and then select when the events should occur. Click on the Ok button.


The K2 workflow designer will be opened.


Under the Workflow Steps tab, click on the General button in the ribbon interface. Click on List Items.


Drag and drop the Update List Item step from the List Item Workflow Steps.


Configure the Update List Item step. Note: I will be updating the “Title” field.



Click on Finish button. Deploy the workflowClick on the File tab in the ribbon interface and then click on Deploy.


The Workflow is deployed successfully.



You will be able to see the workflow added to the K2 application.


Test the workflowNavigate to the K2 Workflow Tutorials list.

Create a new item.

Click on K2 Workflows from the item menu.


You will be able to see the workflow instance details.


After a few minutes the workflow will be completed and the “Title” field will be updated as shown below.
