In this post, you will learn how to get popular documents with OOB configurations. The Content Search WebPart will be used to show the results.
The following steps will help you understand the configuration steps.
Add the content search webpart to the page from content role up section.
Edit the properties of the webpart and set the property mapping to required properties. Set ViewsLifeTime property.
Change the query. Here, you can set the filtering options with your custom properties. In this sample, I have used file extension property to filter the items with specific document types.
In the sorting section, set the sort by column to ViewsLifeTime and the order as descending type.
You can also set to view other properties. Check the screenshot below.
The result can be viewed below. It shows you the most viewed documents.
